EDU 110 - Overview of Special Populations for ParaeducatorsCredits: 3 Develop knowledge in the areas of: laws and history of special education; roles and responsibilities of paraeducators; planning for students with disabilities; typical and non-typical developmental stages of children and youth; basic learning concepts; cognitive, communicative, physical and affective needs of students with disabilities; understanding people with disabilities; transition, job coaching; and how to teach students self-advocacy skills. Three credits.
