PSY 265 - Psychology of Personality [SS3]

Examines the structure, function, and development of personality. Investigates the major contemporary theories of personality. Covers psycho-dynamic, behavioral, cognitive-social learning, humanistic, trait, and, optionally, neurobiological, existential, and/or Eastern, perspectives. The underlying assumptions and research support for these theories are appraised. Enables the student to gain an appreciation of the value of alternative theoretical approaches to this subfield of psychology. This course is a statewide guaranteed transfer course GT-SS3.  Prerequisite(s): PSY 101, PSY 102, PSY 235 or permission of instructor. Three credits.
