TRIO Student Support Services Classic and STEM Programs
The TRIO Student Support Services Classic and STEM programs are federally funded through the Department of Education to provide 280 new and continuing Aims Community College students holistic academic support each academic year. Included in this free program, students benefit from:
- Intensive Academic Advising
- Academic Coaching and Tutoring
- Major and Career Exploration
- 4-Year College Transfer Preparation and Planning
- Campus and Community Leadership Opportunities
- Financial Wellness Education
- **Students who successfully complete one semester in the TRIO Student Support Services Programs may be eligible to receive federal grant funds to assist with the cost of attending Aims Community College.
TRIO Student Support Services Classic and STEM program eligibility for participation is determined by the Department of Education. To be eligible, students must be:
- Accepted to or enrolled at Aims Community College;
- Demonstrate a need for academic support;
- Identify in one or more of the following groups:
- Be financially limited according to federal guidelines
- Be a first-generation college student (neither parent has received a bachelor’s degree)
- Have a documented disability
- A U.S. Citizen or permanent resident.

Center of Opportunity & Resilience in Education (CORE)
CORE is dedicated to promoting an inclusive and intercultural learning environment which welcomes all students from diverse backgrounds, including undocumented populations; by providing services and resources designed to enhance the holistic development of our students. Through this free program students receive the following:
- Intensive Academic Advising
- Academic Coaching and Tutoring
- Transfer Planning
- Career Planning
- Leadership and Engagement Opportunities
- Financial Wellness Education
Students who are eligible for CORE must meet the following requirements:
- New or returning student who has not exceed a maximum of 15 earned undergraduate credit hours;
- Able to graduate within 3 years of being in CORE; and
- Identify as one of the following identifies:
- First generation (neither parent has a bachelor’s degree);
- OR Pell Grant eligible;
- OR identify as a historically underrepresented ethnic or racial minority group, including undocumented student.
