The Center for Workforce Development and Innovation


The Center for Workforce Development and Innovation (CWDI) empowers students to succeed and enriches Northern Colorado economic development through non-credit opportunities and workforce partnerships. CWDI has four program areas: Corporate Training, Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Training Program, Continuing Education and College for Kids.

Corporate Training

The Corporate Training program develops and delivers customized training solutions for partner companies. The program also writes and administers state training grants on behalf of companies. Training is available from soft skills to very technical skills and is delivered on-site or at one of the college’s campuses. Corporate training is able to bring industrial technology training on-site through our Amatrol portable training units. Five portable training units are available for pneumatic troubleshooting, basic hydraulics, electric motor control troubleshooting, portable mechanical drives, portable AC/DC electrical, PLC combined troubleshooting and precision gauging. Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Training Program

According to the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment, Tractor-Trailer Truck Drivers represent the #2 most in-demand job in the state of Colorado. Aims Community College has a successful training program to help train for this in-demand job. The program combines classroom instruction with driving experience taught by expert CDL Class A instructors. The CDL training program provides Class A, Class B, CDL testing only, as well as, single public courses in topics such as defensive driving, trucker’s against trafficking, roadside inspections and electronic logbooks. Continuing Education

Continuing Education (CE) specializes in innovative programs to meet the needs of our growing community. The program works with diverse individuals and organizations to ensure our resources are relevant and connected to the personal and professional educational needs of our community. CE offers a range of professional development and personal enrichment courses and certificates on campus or online. Categories of available opportunities (always growing) include agriculture, alternative health/wellness, business, computers, construction/engineering, health-care, human resources, law, EMS/fire science, oil/gas safety and much more. College For Kids

College for Kids provides a unique, educational and fun summer experience for area youth ages 9-12 by providing an opportunity to “come to college.” This is a four-day, all day program hosted at Aims’ campus locations. Each day, students will attend two classes with a lunch in between.
