Adult Education and English Language Learning (ELL)



College Boost

New to college or returning after a significant time away from the classroom? The College Boost program is designed to support individuals who may benefit from extended academic assistance to succeed in college-level coursework.

Open Enrollment - 
Enrollment is available on a semester basis.  Once enrolled, students receive:

  • A personalized learning plan based on an evaluation of college-level math, elementary algebra, reading comprehension, sentence structure, study & writing skills, and digital literacy development.
  • Students receive tailored instruction and academic support during the semester in which they are enrolled, and are welcome to enroll in multiple semesters to achieve their learning goals.

Upon enrollment, students have semester-based access to the Adult Learning Lab and may attend as often as needed. The lab is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. year-round, and Friday morning hours during the spring and fall semesters, to accommodate diverse schedules.

English Language Learning (ELL)

Aims offers English Language Learning (ELL) classes at five proficiency levels, serving learners ranging from pre-literacy English fundamentals through advanced CEFR language levels.  Classes are available in the mornings and evenings each semester, providing flexible options to fit your schedule.

All students begin with an on-campus placement exam to determine the most appropriate class level to meet their language study goals.

General Education Diploma (GED) Preparation

Interested in earning your GED but faced challenges due to scheduling conflicts? Our program is designed to support you with flexible, personalized learning plans and effective instructional and personal guidance to help you succeed.

What is a GED?
The General Education Development (GED) test provides a pathway to career and educational advancement for individuals who did not complete high school. The GED is a high school equivalency assessment that evaluates knowledge in four subject areas: Reasoning Through Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science.

Aims Community College offers comprehensive, semester-based support to help students prepare for and succeed on the GED. Services include:

Math Brush-Up

Feeling uncertain about your upcoming college math course? The Math Brush-Up program is here to help-at no cost to you!

This free program is designed to support Aims students who want to strengthen their math skills before enrolling in a college-level math class.

Open Enrollment - Start Anytime
Enrollment is available year-round. Students can get started by visiting the Adult Learning Lab in the Summit building - no appointment is necessary.  Once enrolled, students receive:

  • A personalized learning plan to complete at their own pace
  • 10 weeks of one-on-one support from experienced instructors
  • Access to the Adult Learning Lab
  • Skills and confidence to succeed in entry-level college math courses
  • Instrucción en español

The program has no fixed schedule. Students may follow the online course at their own pace, either from home or on campus, with guidance from our instructional staff.
