Designed for health science majors. Examines microorganisms with an emphasis on their structure, development, physiology, classification, and identification. The laboratory experience includes culturing, identifying, and controlling microorganisms with an emphasis on their role in infectious disease. This course is a state guaranteed transfer course GT-SC1. Prerequisite(s): REA 090 and ENG 090 and [MAT 090 or (MAT 060 and MAT 107) or (MAT 045 and MAT 107)] and BIO 111 or BIO 201 or (BIO 105 and CHE 101). Four credits.
