Explores the experiences and contributions of African Americans from the colonial period to the present through the social and economic lives and roles of African Americans, their roles in politics and war, their achievements, and movements for self-help and civil rights. This course focuses on developing, practicing, and strengthening skills historians use while constructing knowledge and studying a diverse set of narratives through perspectives such as gender, class, religion, and ethnicity. This is a statewide Guaranteed Transfer course in the GT-HI1 category. Course is not repeatable for credit.
