Degree Emphasis: 

Associate of Arts with an emphasis in Health and Human Performance.  

This degree emphasis prepares students to be successful in a 4-year exercise science program, or  can prepare students for entry level positions in a variety of industries including recreation,  corporate wellness, gerontology, management, sales, health education, and social work. Students  wishing to further their education have the option to transfer directly into the University of  Northern Colorado’s B.S. in Human Performance.  

Most of the Gen Ed courses are bookwork-based (many science courses can be hands-on), but  the phys-ed and health courses are 50/50 hands-on learning compared to bookwork. The health  courses challenge students to write workout programs, teach workout techniques, tape joints, use  a metabolic cart and bioelectrical impedance scale, etc. The majority of classes are offered face  to face, but a few classes are online. 

Graduates will leave the program with the following: 

  • AA degree with an emphasis in Health & Human Performance 
  • 60 guaranteed transfer credits 

 Skills:  

o Personal health 

o Nutrition - caloric expenditure, macro nutrients, substrate utilization

o Overall wellness 

o Body movement 

o Performance output 

o Body composition - assess body fat percentage, lean body mass 

o Physiology / kinesiology 

o Care and prevention - taping joints 

o Basic injury care 

 

Facility: 

Opened in the Fall of 2015, the 46,000 square foot expanded and renovated Aims  Campus Physical Education and Recreation Center in Greeley provides a vibrant and  welcoming campus community hub. It features state-of-the-art equipment and is  designed to fit the busy schedule and on-the-go lifestyle.

• 1,113 square foot Cross Training Studio

General Information: 

In many cases, up to three credits of Physical Education courses can be applied toward  electives in the general Associate of Arts degree.
