Degrees/Certificates offered:

Radiologic Technology, A.A.S. 

Program Length: Requires minimum of five semesters, PLUS 16 credits of General Education for Associate of Applied Science degree.

Entrance Requirements: Entrance into this program is determined through an application process. Acceptance through the application process qualifies a student for the course RTE 1001: Introduction to Radiography. Strong math, science and sentence skills are a necessity for this program. This is a competitive application process; for further information please view and complete the required online orientation at www.aims.edu/degrees-and-certificates/radiologic-technology/program-entrance-requirements. This orientation is available from January through September. Final PROGRAM acceptance is based on successful completion of RTE 1001. RTE 1001 is only offered every Spring semester. Program start is each Fall semester, after completion of RTE 1001. 

Program Requirements: The following are required for this program and paid for by the student:

  • Criminal background check with no disqualifying offenses
  • Urinalysis drug screening
  • Immunizations
  • CPR certification
  • Possible on-boarding fees (specific requirements subject to change)

Registration Requirement: All courses with a prefix of RTE must have a department approval override from the department chair or program coordinator each semester.

Potential Opportunities: The radiographer as part of the health care team is dedicated to the conservation of life and health and the discovery of existing disease. The Radiologic Technology degree can be a pathway to other imaging modalities such as CT, MRI, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Therapy, etc.

This program is designed to train individuals in the art and science of Radiologic Technology.

Students successfully completing the program are eligible to take the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists competency examination that upon successful completion will allow the graduate to hold the status of Registered Technologist R.T.(R).

NOTE: This program includes changes which are subject to approval by the Colorado Community College System. Courses listed are subject to change. Students can verify the course offerings from the program chair.

Mammography Certificate

Program Length: 1-2 semesters.

Program Description & Potential Opportunities: The program is restricted to Registered Technologists seeking certification in mammography. Opportunities are in hospitals, clinics and doctors offices.

Prerequisites: Must be an ARRT Registered Technologist. RT(R)

  • CPR certification
