We hope by centering your voice(s), you are able to establish a foundation of self-advocacy, confidence, lifelong learning and achieve your goals and future success.

Programs and Services

CDI Programs
The Center for Diversity & Inclusion (CDI) cultivates a welcoming and inclusive environment for students to build community, access resources, and critically engage in social justice topics. The CDI offers various programming, events, and leadership opportunities to support student needs. Our goal is to increase student engagement, support the growth and development of students, and create a space for students to critically engage with others and reflect on their unique experiences.  Other specific support and program availability can be found on the CDI  website at: https://www.aims.edu/departments/center-diversity-and-inclusion. CDI events and programs will change from year-to-year and our web page will be updated accordingly. For the most accurate information about upcoming events visit the “Department Overview” tab and review The Weekly, The Daily, and the CDI Instagram Page on a regular basis.

Seeds Leadership Program
The Seeds Leadership Program is an opportunity for students to develop a deeper understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion as foundational principles for leadership. These principles broaden students’ perspectives and inform how they build community, meet life’s challenges, and achieve their goals. Participants will learn to leverage various leadership strategies to create and sustain a positive impact across all facets of their lives through skill development, self-reflection, and a commitment to personal growth. This program creates intentional pathways for students to navigate interpersonal, institutional, and larger systemic barriers due to race, class, gender, sexuality, and ability in a myriad of ways.

Affinity Groups
Provide a space for groups of students who are linked by shared interest, purpose, or identity to offer support to each other. Affinity groups can represent a broad or narrow definition such as: women, queer and transgender, people of color, military, veterans of color, students with disabilities and more. Visit the CDI if you are interested in establishing an affinity group.

Interfaith Prayer and Meditation Room
The CDI strives to support students’ religious beliefs, spirituality and emotional wellbeing by sustaining a calming space where students can recenter themselves through prayer, reflection or meditative practices. This room includes a shoe basket, meditative pillows, compass, and a gentle timer.

Lactation Room
The CDI recognizes the importance of breastfeeding/breastfeeding parents and strives to create an environment conducive to the needs of students and employees within the Aims community. The lactation room is equipped with a comfortable chair, mini refrigerator, coat/clothing rack, extension cord, and cleaning items.

All Gender Restroom
Provides a gender neutral space for students, and includes basic hygiene and menstrual products for emergency situations.

Conference and Study Rooms
Students have access to a 4-seat study room which can also be used as a conference room.

Community Lounge
Provides a space for students to relax between classes, visit with friends, or make new friends. The lounge includes comfortable couches, 50-inch TV, fireplace, kitchenette, and power stations to charge laptops or phones.
