ASCENT
ASCENT (Accelerating Students through Concurrent Enrollment) is a branch of the Concurrent Enrollment program that allows high school students to extend their education for one additional year. During this year, students attend college exclusively and earn credit toward a postsecondary diploma, certificate, or degree.
Approval must be received from the student’s high school and/or school district prior to enrollment. Eligibility requirements include:
-
Meeting all high school graduation requirements
-
Completing (or being on track to complete) 9 or more college credits at the 100 level or above
-
Meeting all remedial needs
-
Meeting any additional guidelines set by the student’s high school and/or district
A full list of eligibility requirements is available through the Colorado Department of Education. Students must meet all course prerequisites prior to registration. ASCENT classes become part of the student’s permanent college transcript. Note that federal and state financial aid is not available for this program.
For more information, contact the High School Programs Office or visit the Colorado Department of Education’s ASCENT Program page.

-
Automotive Service Technology

Space is limited each year, with specific “slots” (or seats) available for participating programs. Eligible students must meet all program / course requirements and prerequisites and are selected based on recommendations from high school administrators and/or counselors.
Courses are held on an Aims campus, with some including online components. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from class. Grades earned become part of the student’s permanent college transcript and apply toward a CTE academic certificate and/or industry certification.
The costs of tuition, books, fees, and supplies are covered by the school district and Aims Community College - for most programs, there is no cost to the student. Interested students should check with their home high school for additional eligibility requirements.
For more information, contact the High School Programs Office.
Concurrent Enrollment
Concurrent Enrollment allows high school students in grades 9-12 to earn college credit and high school credit simultaneously. Students can work toward a post-secondary diploma, certificate, or degree while still enrolled in high school, with tuition paid by the school district or charter school. Where applicable, college credit may also count toward high school graduation requirements.
Approval must be received from the student’s high school, counselor / administrator, and/or school district before enrolling. Eligible students must meet all course or program requirements and prerequisites before registering. All classes become part of the student’s permanent college transcript. Please note that federal and state financial aid is not available for this option.
For more information, contact the High School Programs Office. Learn more about the Concurrent Enrollment Program from the Colorado Department of Education.
