Academic Fresh Start

Students who have not met academic standards and have been away from Aims for two or more calendar years may be eligible for academic relief through the Academic Fresh Start program. For full details, refer to the Academic Fresh Start Policy and Procedure.

Grade Point Average

A student’s Grade Point Average (GPA) is calculated using the following formula:

  • Multiply the number of credits earned for each grade by the corresponding grade points:

    • “A” = 4 points

    • “B” = 3 points

    • “C” = 2 points

    • “D” = 1 point

    • “F” = 0 points

  • Add these totals together, then divide by the total number of credits attempted.

Only college-level courses completed at Aims Community College are included in the calculation of both semester and cumulative GPAs, as shown on grade reports and transcripts. Courses numbered below 100 do not count toward college credit or GPA. Courses graded as “S” (Satisfactory) count for credit but are excluded from GPA calculations.

Grades assigned at Aims Community College can be found in the Grading System Policy
