Academic Standing
All students at Aims must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.00 or higher in all attempted undergraduate-level courses to remain in good academic standing.
Students who do not meet this standard will be assigned an academic standing status based on their individual academic performance.
For detailed information, refer to the Academic Standards page on the Aims Community College website or the Academic Standing Policy.
Attendance
Students are expected to attend all classes for which they are registered, except in cases of illness or other emergencies. Instructors will determine and communicate how absences may affect course grades.
If a student accumulates excessive absences to the extent that continued enrollment is no longer beneficial, the instructor may recommend that the student withdraw from the course. All withdrawals must be completed by the published deadline for the specific course section.
Course Repeats
Students may repeat certain courses taken at Aims to improve their grade. Specific details about eligible courses and the effects of repeating courses are outlined in the Repeated Courses Procedure.
Honors Recognition
Full-time students who earn a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher in at least 12 credit hours of undergraduate-level courses used to calculate the GPA qualify for honors recognition.
- President’s List: Awarded to students with a term GPA of 4.0 (straight A’s)
- Dean’s List: Awarded to students with a term GPA between 3.5 and 3.99
For details on honors recognition, visit the Graduation website.
