Classes with additional costs, such as differential tuition or lab/course fees, are identified in the online course schedule.
Active-duty members of the U.S. Armed Forces (and their dependents) residing in Colorado under permanent change-of-station status, as well as honorably discharged veterans, may be eligible for in-state tuition rates. Contact Registration and Records for details.
Complete information about residency is available through the Registration and Records Office, where students may obtain a Change of Residency Petition. The completed petition must be submitted and approved by the first day of the semester.

Financial Obligations of Students
Students are responsible for meeting all financial obligations to the college, including tuition, fees, books, and other related charges. Payments are due by designated deadlines or at the time the obligation is incurred.
For students age 17 or younger, financial responsibility rests with the parent or legal guardian.
Students with outstanding balances may be restricted from registering for courses or receiving diplomas until all obligations are satisfied by posted payment deadlines.
For current information, payment deadlines, and required forms, please visit the college website.
Failure to meet financial obligations may result in the account being referred to a collection agency and reported to one or more credit bureaus. Additional fees, including collection and attorney costs as permitted by law, may be assessed.
Lifetime Learning and American Opportunity Credit
The American Opportunity Credit and the Lifetime Learning Credit, established under the Federal Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997, are intended to make higher education-including community college-more affordable for students and families.
To qualify, students must be enrolled at least half-time (six credit hours) in a degree, certificate, or other program leading to a recognized educational credential.
These tax credits may be applied to tuition, fees, and other eligible educational expenses.
For complete information on eligibility requirements, income limits, and how to claim these credits, consult a tax advisor or visit the IRS website at www.irs.gov.
Tuition and Fee Payment Policy
By applying for admission, registering for classes, and incurring charges on their student account, students acknowledge their intention and ability to pay. This agreement obligates students to pay all tuition, fees, bookstore charges, service fees, and any applicable collection costs. It represents a binding financial commitment to the college. Click here to view the full policy.
Electronic Billing (E-Billing)
Aims Community College uses an electronic billing system. Students will receive an email notification when their electronic bill (e-bill) is available. Notifications are sent only to the student’s official MyAims email address.
Failure to check MyAims email or view the online tuition bill does not exempt students from payment deadlines or associated penalties. Noncompliance may result in:
- Late payment service charges
- Registration holds
- Diploma holds
- Dropped course registration for future semesters
Payment Deadlines
To avoid monthly service charges, students must complete at least one of the following options by the published payment deadlines:
- Pay in full
- Enroll in MyPaymentPlan
- Be awarded financial aid covering 100% of charges
- Submit private scholarship paperwork
- Submit sponsor billing paperwork
- Submit UNC/CSU Cooperative Agreement
- Submit completed paperwork for High School Concurrent Enrollment, Early College, or Career Academy programs
- Covered by VA post 9/11 or other VA benefits
Payment due dates and deadlines are available on the Aims website.
Service Charges
A 1.75% service charge will be applied to any unpaid balance on the 5th of each month (or next business day) up to four months, if no payment option is in place. This equates to a 21% Annual Percentage Rate (APR).
Note: If your down payment or enrollment fee for MyPaymentPlan fails to process, you may incur service charges unless a valid payment option is established before the next service charge date.
Holds and Enrollment Impact
Students who miss payment deadlines may have a hold placed on their account and must make payment for those charges. If enrolled in future terms, students with unpaid balances risk being dropped from all future courses and placed on financial hold until the outstanding balance is resolved.
Additional Information
- Students are responsible for reviewing their online account statement within 48 hours of any course registration, add, drop, or withdrawal.
- Billing notices are sent to the student’s MyAims email. Mailed statements are sent via USPS after midterms and approximately every 60 days thereafter.
- Financial aid payments are automatically applied to tuition bills. Excess funds are refunded via check or direct deposit.
- Bookstore purchases (Barnes & Noble) up to the allotted amount are charged directly to the student account. Students are responsible for full payment and must adhere to bookstore refund policies.
- Charges are added to any existing Nelnet MyPaymentPlan, with email notification sent to the student.
Accepted Payment Methods
- In-Person: Cash, check, money order, or credit/debit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express)
- Online: Credit/debit card through the student portal
- Financial Aid Disbursement: Automatically applied to the student account
Tuition and Fee Refund Policy
Refunds are issued to students within 14 days from the date a credit or negative balance is created on their student account, once the semester has officially begun. Aims Community College partners with Heartland Campus Solutions RefundSelect to manage all refund disbursements.
All refunds are processed through the RefundSelect system and disbursed based on the refund method selected by the student. All students are required to enroll in RefundSelect and choose a disbursement preference.
Please note:
- Refunds are not issued back to debit or credit cards.
- Refunds are not issued to parents, guardians, or third parties.
