Degrees Offered

Accounting (A.A.S. Degree - Two Years)

This two-year Associate of Applied Science degree in Accounting prepares students for entry-level positions in a variety of business and financial environments. The program equips students with a strong foundation in accounting principles, software applications, business ethics, and communication skills necessary for a successful career in the accounting field.

Graduates are qualified for positions such as accounts receivable or accounts payable clerk, payroll technician, accounting assistant, budget or credit analyst, and tax preparer. Students are encouraged to work closely with an accounting advisor to develop a personalized course plan aligned with their career goals.


Certificates Offered

Certified Bookkeeper (Two Semesters)

Enrolled Agent (Two Semesters)

These certificates offer focused training in key areas of accounting and are designed to prepare students for specific professional roles or certifications. All certificate coursework applies directly toward the A.A.S. degree in Accounting.


Transfer Opportunities

Students completing the Accounting A.A.S. degree may pursue transfer options to institutions such as CSU Global, Franklin University, Grand Canyon University, Regis University, University of Phoenix, and others. Academic advisors can assist in selecting the best pathway for continuing education.


Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the Accounting Program, students will be able to:

  • Prepare accurate financial statements and reports using a variety of accounting documents and sources.

  • Analyze fundamental accounting concepts and understand how financial statements interrelate.

  • Utilize appropriate software and technology to produce professional business documents.

  • Research and analyze accounting concepts and trends, and demonstrate knowledge of current regulations.

  • Apply critical thinking to accounting scenarios and present relevant solutions.

  • Demonstrate professional skills including teamwork, communication, timeliness, and job readiness.

  • Make ethical and well-informed business recommendations grounded in accounting principles.

  • Identify motivational strategies to support effective team and workplace dynamics.

  • Communicate effectively using various electronic platforms, including email.

  • Exhibit flexibility, prioritize tasks, and show attention to detail, accuracy, and adaptability.


General Education Requirements

A minimum of 15 credit hours of General Education coursework is required for the A.A.S. degree. Course selection must be approved by an academic advisor.
