Degrees Offered
Nursing (A.A.S. Degree - Two Years)
The Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program provides students with the opportunity to learn skills to care for patients of all ages in a variety of healthcare settings. In addition to learning technical skills used in providing care, major emphasis is placed on the development of communication, critical thinking, and professionalism. This rigorous program offers theoretical and applied instruction in classrooms, simulated laboratories, and clinical settings.
The ability to synthesize information, communicate clearly, and apply critical thinking in clinical situations is essential to success in the program.
Upon successful completion of all degree requirements, students earn an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree with a major in Nursing. Graduates are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). Successful completion of the NCLEX-RN leads to state licensure and the title of Registered Nurse (RN).
All applicants must complete the application process for the academic year they intend to begin the program. Please review the Aims Nursing Degree Admissions Standards at https://www.aims.edu/degrees-certificates/nursing/requirements.
All applicants are provisionally admitted and must undergo an annual background check and drug screening. Applicants must successfully pass these screenings (no disqualifying offenses) to begin or continue in the program. Additional background checks, drug screens, and/or fingerprinting may be required by clinical agencies.
Clinical sites reserve the right to deny students access based on screening results. If denied access, students may be unable to complete program requirements.
Provisionally admitted students must also meet all clinical agency health and safety requirements, including but not limited to immunizations/titers, health screenings, and American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification.
