Mission Statement

The mission of the Aims Automotive Programs is to prepare students with the professional and technical skills necessary to succeed in the automotive industry upon completion of a degree program. Certificate-seeking or special-interest students will acquire the specific skill set aligned with their educational goals.

Program Length

The Master Automobile Service Technology A.A.S. degree is 79 credit hours and can typically be completed within six semesters of full-time attendance with no breaks.

The AYES (Automotive Youth Educational System) emphasis is 16 credit hours and may be completed in approximately three semesters.

Additional time may be required for preparatory coursework, course retakes, or part-time scheduling.

Potential Opportunities

Employment opportunities in the automotive repair and service industry are strong, especially for individuals interested in working with today’s advanced vehicles. Both auto manufacturers and repair facilities report a national shortage of qualified technicians-particularly in general line repair and diagnostics.

Program graduates are prepared for positions such as:

  • Automotive service technician

  • Diagnostic specialist

  • Dealership-certified technician

  • Diesel or heavy-duty technician

The Master Automotive Service Technician option offers a comprehensive education in all eight major ASE-recognized systems and includes both theoretical instruction and hands-on training. Curriculum is aligned with ASE Educational Foundation guidelines.

Aims Automotive maintains strong partnerships with major manufacturers and is factory-endorsed by:

  • Mercedes-Benz

  • Subaru University

  • Ford ACE School

  • Volvo Car University

These affiliations provide students with access to brand-specific certifications, tools, training modules, and dealership employment pathways.

Service Program Requirements

  • All students must complete a college interest survey before beginning coursework.

  • Advisors will determine if any preparatory work is required.

  • First-time students must successfully complete Introduction to Auto Shop Orientation.

  • Students are required to wear safe clothing, closed-toe shoes, and eye protection in shop environments.

  • Students must purchase required textbooks not supplied by the program (consult an advisor for the list).

  • To graduate, students must complete all required ASE subject courses and at least 15 credit hours of general education coursework.

  • Dexterity testing is required for all degree-seeking students.
