Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the Business Technology Program, students will be able to:
- Apply ethical practices to manage an office efficiently.
- Organize, file, and retrieve both paper and digital records.
- Maintain confidentiality and security in document handling.
- Prepare professional business documents using software including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations.
- Operate and maintain standard office equipment such as scanners, printers, cameras, and copiers.
- Coordinate and manage daily office functions according to standard operating procedures.
- Demonstrate critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and job-seeking skills.
- Apply motivational strategies in collaborative settings through role plays, simulations, and team activities.
- Use electronic communication platforms effectively, including email.
- Prioritize tasks, demonstrate accuracy, attention to detail, and adapt to change.
- Compile a professional portfolio showcasing a variety of business documents.
- Make appropriate recommendations based on business technology scenarios.
Potential Opportunities
The A.A.S. degree and certificate programs in Business Technology prepare students to work in a wide range of office environments, including government, small business, banking, healthcare, real estate, insurance, and the legal field. The curriculum emphasizes hands-on experience with current technologies and office practices.
Students with high school credit in keyboarding, word processing, or bookkeeping may substitute alternate courses with advisor approval.
