Program Overview
The Early Childhood Education program prepares students for careers across a broad spectrum of environments, including private and public preschools, Head Start programs, inclusive child development centers, and family childcare homes. Students gain the foundational skills necessary for roles in before- and after-school programs and other settings that serve young children. In addition to completing required coursework, students must typically document specific hours of work experience to meet state qualification and credentialing requirements for lead teacher and director positions. The Colorado Department of Early Childhood determines the qualifications for childcare positions.
