Program Overview
The Music program is designed for students pursuing a career in music. The curriculum emphasizes three core areas: applied lessons, music theory, and performance. Success in music courses is supported by a range of abilities, including visual, spatial, auditory, kinesthetic, and creative thinking skills. While these abilities are not formally assessed, they contribute significantly to successful course completion.
Private instruction in guitar, voice, piano, or other instruments may be repeated at the 2044 level after completing prior levels. Performance ensemble courses may be repeated at the 2053 level following completion of prerequisite courses.
Theater courses are offered through the Visual and Performing Arts Department at Aims. Students may choose from a variety of classes, including acting and theater production, to fulfill elective or general education requirements.
Beyond the classroom, students may participate in the Aims Community Theater Group (ACT Group), which stages productions throughout the academic year. ACT Group collaborates with academic programs to provide hands-on learning experiences in acting, technical theater, and performance. As an open company, ACT Group welcomes participation from both Aims students and community members.
