Associate of Engineering Science
Degree Code: AESIT01
The Associate of Engineering Science (A.E.S.) degree is awarded to students who successfully complete the program requirements. Many of the courses in this program are designed to transfer to four-year colleges or universities.
All General Education courses within the A.E.S. degree are intended to transfer to four-year institutions in the State of Colorado. However, some courses-particularly career and technical courses-may not be accepted for transfer by certain baccalaureate institutions. Once students identify the institution to which they plan to transfer, they should confirm the receiving institution’s transfer requirements, including which courses will transfer and apply to their intended major.
General Requirements for the A.E.S. Degree
Students pursuing an Associate of Engineering Science (A.E.S.) degree should work with an Aims advisor to develop an educational plan.
The following are general requirements for the A.E.S. degree:
- Sixty (60) semester credit hours in approved coursework are required for graduation.
- Students must earn a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or higher in all coursework completed at Aims Community College.
- Fifteen (15) semester credit hours applicable to the degree and completed prior to graduation must be earned at Aims Community College.
- Courses numbered below 1000 may not be applied toward completion of the A.E.S. degree.
- Courses with a 3-character bracketed code (e.g., English Composition I [CO1]) in which a grade of C or higher is earned are guaranteed to transfer to all public Colorado colleges and universities. Courses completed with a grade of D may apply toward A.E.S. degree requirements at Aims but are not guaranteed to transfer. Students should verify transferability with their intended institution or consider repeating courses to improve grades.
