Registration

Return to: Policies, Regulations, and Rules

Students are required to complete the registration process each semester. The Schedule of Classes is available online prior to the registration period; students should consult the online calendar for specific registration dates and details. All financial obligations from prior terms must be satisfied before students are permitted to register for additional courses.

Cooperative Registration Agreements

Students must have a valid Social Security number to participate in either cooperative registration agreement.

UNC-Aims Cooperative Agreement

Students enrolled in at least 12 credits and paying full-time tuition at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) or Aims Community College are eligible to take one undergraduate class (up to 5 credits) at the other institution without additional tuition charges.

  • The student is responsible for paying all applicable course fees

  • The tuition-free course must be one not offered at the student’s home institution during that term

  • Courses delivered through Continuing Education (credit or non-credit) do not count toward the 12-credit full-time requirement and are not eligible as the free class

For full details, visit the UNC Registrar’s Office or the Aims Registration and Records Offices on any campus, or online at: www.aims.edu/departments/cashiers-office/cooperative-registration-agreement-guidelines

CSU-Aims Cooperative Agreement

Students enrolled in at least 12 credits and paying full-time tuition at Colorado State University (CSU) or Aims Community College are eligible to take one undergraduate class (up to 5 credits) at the other institution without additional tuition charges.

  • The student is responsible for paying all applicable course fees

  • Courses delivered through Continuing Education (credit or non-credit) do not count toward the 12-credit full-time requirement and are not eligible as the free class

For full details, visit the CSU Admissions Office or the Aims Registration and Records Offices on any campus, or online at: www.aims.edu/departments/cashiers-office/cooperative-registration-agreement-guidelines.

Refund Regulations

Under specific conditions, Aims Community College grants tuition and course fee refunds to students who drop courses by the published deadline.

Student Responsibility

  • Students are responsible for dropping courses by the deadline, even if they have never attended

  • All drops must be submitted online

  • For assistance, contact the Registration and Records Office

Eligibility for Refunds

  • To be eligible, the online drop must be submitted by the deadline

  • In emergency situations, a written request may be submitted to the Registration and Records Office; the date received will determine eligibility

  • If the student received financial assistance (scholarships, grants, or loans managed by the College), refunds will be returned to the appropriate fund or applied to the loan balance

Refund Schedule

  • On or before the Drop Deadline: 100% refund

  • After the Drop Deadline, but on or before the Withdrawal Deadline: No refund

Registration Cancellations, Changes, and Refunds

Course Cancellations

Aims Community College reserves the right to cancel course offerings when enrollment is too low to make the course educationally sound or economically viable. Courses canceled by the College will result in a full refund.

Adding, Dropping, or Withdrawing from Classes

  • Adding Classes
Students must add classes by the published Add Deadline, which occurs within the first 7% of the course.

Late registration may be considered in cases of extenuating circumstances beyond the student’s control that kept the student from adhering to the published deadline. To qualify, the student must have been attending the course prior to the course’s Drop Deadline and must obtain both the instructor’s and the department’s approval.

  • Dropping Classes
Students must drop classes by the Drop Deadline (within the first 15% of the course). Drops completed by this deadline will result in a full refund.

  • Withdrawing from Classes
Withdrawals must be completed by the Withdrawal Deadline (after the Drop Deadline but before 75% of the course has been completed). A withdrawal will result in a grade of “W” on the student’s academic transcript and does not affect the student’s GPA. However, all tuition and fees still apply; no refund is issued for withdrawals.

If the student does not officially withdraw by the deadline, the final grade earned will be assigned. In certain cases, and if the student qualifies, the instructor may (at their discretion) assign an “Incomplete” as the final grade (see Grading System  section for details).

Students are solely responsible for properly completing all adds, drops, and withdrawals. Non-attendance does not constitute an official drop. Telephone requests for adds, drops, or withdrawals are not accepted; however, telephone assistance is available to guide students through the online process.

Withdrawal from All Classes/Withdrawal from the College

Students who wish to withdraw from all classes or from the College must do so online. Assistance is available in person or by phone through the Registration and Records Office. Telephone requests for complete withdrawal are accepted only under extreme circumstances.

Tuition Adjustment Appeals

Students who withdraw from course(s) due to extenuating circumstances may submit a Tuition Adjustment Appeal. Appeals must be filed within one year from the end of the semester for which the adjustment is requested. Supporting documentation of the extenuating circumstances is required.

For forms, guidelines, and additional information, students should contact the Cashier’s Office or visit: https://www.aims.edu/departments/cashiers-office/tuition-appeals.
